Overcoming Five Giants

In the book of Joshua we see a powerful story of five giants in the promise land that the children of Israel had to overcome. The main giant was Arba, the father of Anak. Anak had three sons, Sheshai, Ahriman, and Talmai. Caleb was a man who wholly followed the Lord and he wanted his inheritance in the land which was Hebron. Hebron was originally called Kirjath-arba, the city of four. Arba was the main giant. it is interesting to note that these giants are still operating in many cities and nations of the world. As we take a deeper look into the meaning of the giants, we will see that there is a real parallel between then and now especially in the USA. Joshua 15:15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. Joshua 1 15:13-14 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment od the Lord to Joshua, even the city of Arba, the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahriman, and Thalami, the children of Anak.. We see in these scriptures the five giants that Caleb had to drive out to possess the city of Hebron which was called Arba. The five giants are representative of five areas of resistance from the enemy that every believers and every church that desires to establish a five fold ministry in their local church. Arba represents Division, Anak, represents Control, Sheshai represents Religion, Talami represents Mammon and Ahiman represents Identity. Interestingly there are five giants as there are five ministry gifts. If you want your family to possess all the promises of God you will have to have understanding in this five area. We must have families wholly devoted to the Lord like Caleb, who are united, not divided, who understand their identity in Jesus and allow the control of the Holy Spirit, who have real relationships with the Lord, not a religious mindset and have their finances submitted to the Lordship of Jesus. Likewise if you desire to implement five fold ministry in your local church you will have to deal with these five areas of Division, Control, Mammon, Identity and Religion. Leaders must be submitted to another and humbly allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide. Mammon will have to be dealt with in a reasonable way and each leader must have a clear understanding of the call and function so the whole body is properly trained and equipped. And the leaders must have a relational mindset , not a religious mindset of rules and regulations that bring the people into bondage and away from our freedom in Christ..
